FIVE TIPS WHICH WILL HELP TRAVEL THE WORLD ON A BUDGET

Travelling the world is a dream for all of us. We, human beings, have been natural-born explorers since the very first stage of our evolution. That huge genetic memory is present among all of us, and that is why all of us have this unquenchable thirst for exploring the world. And in this modern age, travelling around the world has become easier than ever. Now, exploring unknown places or travelling to a new country does not require as much money as it used to. It is very much possible to satisfy your wanderlust on a budget if you can plan your trip smartly. So if you are someone who is planning to explore the world but isn’t sitting on a goldmine, here are seven tips to make your adventures affordable.

1. Planning makes things perfect

Planning is everything when it comes to budget travelling. Use an online itinerary planner to find out all about the place you are travelling to. Learn about the different attractions, different modes of commute, enquire about the prices, research about the public transport system, get to know about the cheaper areas of the destination before you start travelling. Plan your itinerary properly so that you do not have to waste any time and money while you are at your destination.

2. Use public transport or share your ride

Using public transport is one of the best ways to cut down on your travel expenses. Booking a private car or cab can prove to be too costly, so if the destination has a good subway system or other public transport systems, use them as much as you can. If you have to book a car to visit somewhere, then try to share your ride with other tourists or use car share apps like UberPool or BlaBlaCar.

3. Street food is your friend

No matter what you think, street food is not always bad for you, especially if you are travelling on a budget. Street food stalls will have some of the best cheap food options which will save you a lot of money while you travel. Plus, you will get to eat some of the most authentic, local delicacies which is always a bonus.

4. Work while you travel

One of the best ways to travel on a budget is doing some freelance project on the side while you travel. That way, you can keep on earning money even though you are not working at an office, so you won’t chew through your savings completely. Start doing YouTube vlogs, become a travel blogger or sell photos online for some extra income while you travel.

5. Try Couchsurfing, or stay at hostels

Forget hotel rooms while you are travelling. Hotel rooms are too much luxury which one doesn’t really need. You can try Couchsurfing if you want and stay at a local’s house totally rent free. However, if that’s too meta for you, then you should book a bed at a hostel dormitory, which costs way less than a typical hotel room.

Make Saving For Travel Easier

Source

Say you’re an avid traveller who wants to get away on some awe-inspiring getaways to far-flung destinations but you’re having to do the whole “home life” thing for the moment, dreaming of whiling away the hours on a tropical beach somewhere. Sounds like a lot of us, doesn’t it? How can you make that next trip happen sooner rather than later, though? Through saving and having next to no life while your friends and family hit the town at the weekend? Scrimping by and eating only ramen for dinner to help save every penny possible? Read ahead for some less drastic measures that allow you to save or take advantage of some keen tips in order to get away sooner – without having to sacrifice fun to make it happen.

Marriott Rewards

Wait, wait. Marriott rewards? You bet! Marriott rewards can be used for a number of great travel benefits, even allowing you to transfer your Marriott points into airline miles on certain airlines allowing you to get hugely discounted or even free flights. Want to bump up your points if you travel for work? Consider getting your company to agree to reimbursing you for your hotel stays, car rentals and more instead of using the company card and then use your credit cards that earn you Marriott points. That way you will still rack up some great, huge points you can use later, while travelling for work!

Fly For Less

Okay, it’s no surprise that flights are some of the worst money drainers around, especially for travellers looking for a bargain. Save yourself some cash by travelling flexibly. How, you may ask? Well, if you aren’t on a time crunch or needing to be anywhere specific by a certain date, consider using websites like Skyscanner to search for the cheapest flight in the month you want to depart. You can also consider splitting up your flights and flying indirectly to your destination. For example, if you are wanting to go to Athens, Greece from North America, it’s often times much cheaper to get a flight to London, UK and then a flight on one of Europe’s many budget airlines to Athens.

Consider Flying From Another City

If you are from a city that doesn’t have a very well-serviced airport, consider flying from another airport that is within easy access of your city. Some of the more popular airport destinations offer cheaper flights to international centres. For example within Canada airports you might want to consider include Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto for the cheapest flights as the other airports aren’t as well serviced by airlines and are often more expensive to fly from. Sure, you may need to factor in getting to the other city including gas or bus tickets, but you may be surprised at how much you could save.
So there you have a couple of great tips on how to travel for cheaper and how to rack up some great points to transfer into travel rewards to help make those trips of a lifetime happen sooner. So pack your bags, the world is waiting for you!

How to Stop Your Car From Costing You So Much Money

Cars can prove to be quite a costly accessory in our lives and whilst for many it is an absolute necessity, there is no reason to blow most of your wage each month on running your vehicle. The cost of a car alone is substantial enough without needing to fork out huge amounts each month on the running and the caring of your car. If you are looking to reduce your monthly spends then the car would be a good place to start and here are just some of the ways that you can cut down on how much your car costs you each month.

Car Insurance

When your car insurance is up for renewal, make sure that you pore through your options with a fine toothcomb. Far too many people simply accept the first offer that comes along or they decide to allow their existing policy to continue, both of which could see you paying more than you should do for  the rest of the year. Head to a site like Chill. ie and find out if you can get an even better offer on your car insurance for next year.

Gadgets

Many of us get sucked in to buying any number of gadgets and pieces of tech for our cars and the spending could soon add up. Try to remember that the car is for purpose and whilst there is nothing wrong with improving the way things are inside the car, we should all remember that there is a lot of junk on the market that we simply don’t need.

Cleaning

Cleaning your car on your own is something which the majority of us have the capability to do and for the sake of a couple of hours of your time every fortnight, you could save a lot of money each month. You may think that spending four or five pounds on a wash and valet may not be much, but over the course of a year it will really add up. Fill up that bucket and start saving money.

Driving Style

Driving style has a huge impact on how much your car will cost, in many different ways and a smart and calculated driving approach can really help you to save some money. Firstly there is the fact that you are less likely to be involved in a potentially costly accident; secondly you will do far less damage to your car’s parts through your method of driving, and finally you will use significantly less petrol as you go.

Car Sharing

Car sharing is a great way to not only save some money but also to improve road conditions and help to protect the environment. There are many apps out there which can help you to get in touch with other people who are taking the same route as you and you can alternate driving with sharing each day.

These are just a few of the ways in which you can save money on your car each month, if you have any others that work for you, let us know in the comments section below.
